IAA Liberation Recommendations 2019 The Irish Aviation Authority (www.iaa.ie) have issued recommendations on restricting liberations in the Dublin region. You can view the restriction area in Google Maps over here ... You can also download a printable version for distribution to your members from this link ... In a letter to the IHU the IAA have requested that the training of racing pigeons in the N7/M7/M9 corridor is an unsafe activity and "must cease with immediate effect". They also say if the response from the IHU is not satisfactory then further measures or actions may be required to address the matter. Among the recommendations of the IAA are : - The release of "large numbers" of birds is to be avoided within 50 kilometers of the East Coast of Ireland, Liberations can take place south of the Wicklow Mountains if the birds are flying in a southerly direction and north of Lusk if the birds are flying in a northerly direction. - if liberating "large numbers" of birds within a 10 kilometer radius of an airport, a nominated person must notify the airport by telephone 1 hour beforehand. - A nominated person must notify the "ATC Station Manager" when birds are released.
